Wicked Musical

Fan of the theatre? Then you need to go see Wicked, have a read below on why it should be on your list of shows to watch!

Wicked is up there amongst the top ten longest-running shows at West End, it is packed with fantastic acting, over the top productions and a timeless story about good versus evil. This is a classic fairy tale with a twist. It explores sisterhood, bullying, love, rivalry and self-acceptance, the show is based on the novel by L. Frank Baum but from the viewpoint of two girls who end up as ‘The Wicked Witch of the West’ and ‘Glinda the Good Witch’. Without giving away too many spoilers the show follows the girls as they enter young adulthood in sorcery school and become rivals through a series of events.

Wicked is an award winning show that has collected Tony’s and a Grammy, this makes it an even more popular choice. The production is perfect for the whole family and has something to offer all age groups.

It is performed at The Apollo Theatre in West End which is an impressive structure. With its Art Deco style, you feel transported to a different era. The theatre is famous for hosting long-running musicals such as The Sound of Music, Saturday Night Fever, Starlight Express and Bombay Dreams. The Apollo can seat 2304 people and requires smart/ casual wear in terms of dress code. With regards to seating, you can either sit in the stalls or the circle. The stalls are lower floor seating and the circle is the next tier above the stalls on the balcony. My family and I sat in the front section of the circle and we had a great view of the stage and were able to enjoy it immensely.

The show itself runs Monday-Saturday at 7:30 pm and on Wednesdays & Saturdays, it has an additional 2:30 pm showing. The duration is 2hrs 45mins with an intermission where you can grab a drink in the lounge. You can purchase tickets online as well as at the door 30 minutes before the tour on a first-come, first-served basis. We got ours online at Ticketmaster and managed to get a great deal, I would recommend going on a weekday as the tickets are cheaper.

Ok, I think I’ve covered everything you should know, now all you need to do is go ahead and book your tickets to have a fabulous time!
