This was an impulsive booking made by 5 of us who refused to give up a £30 ticket! That’s right the ticket was £30, and it was the perfect day trip.
The travel time is short and access to the city centre is a direct train ride away. Copenhagen is super low-key and relaxed which was one of the things I loved about it. We were able to visit all the places we wanted using the bus or train and since it’s not huge almost everything is within a short distance of one another.
Check out the list below of popular spots to visit:
- Tivoli Gardens – amusement park and gardens
- Nyhavn – famous new harbour where colourful buildings line the canal
- Amalienborg Palace – home of the Danish royal family
- The Little Mermaid – Iconic bronze sculpture
- Stroget – pedestrian street for high-end or bargain shopping
- Nationalmuseet – national museum
- Christianborg Palace – contains Denmark’s Supreme Court, the Prime Ministers Office and Danish Parliament.
- Botanical Garden – filled with botanical wealth and majestic iron and glass structures
- Rosenborg Castle – a palace built by Christian IV at the start of the 1600s
That’s just to name a few, Copenhagen is ideal if you want to take an easy journey outside of the UK for the day. However, I could have easily spent a few days there, maybe next time!
