The Amalfi Coast is so close to Sorrento, we couldn’t leave without making a quick trip during our holiday in June. We decided on visiting Positano for the day rather than doing a tour of the coast which was worked out great for us.
GETTING HERE:
Let me start by saying Positano is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen and I cannot believe it’s real! We’ve already decided the next time we visit it will definitely be for a few days. Anyway, the easiest way to get to Positano from Sorrento is by ferry, the journey is relatively quick at under an hour as well as inexpensive. You can book tickets online in advance or at the port ticket office, I found price is the same either way. The port is called Porto di Sorrento and if you are staying at a hotel that is central you should easily be able to walk there.

PLACES TO EAT:
As soon as we arrived at the port in Positano the first thing we did was look for a gelateria! We found a lovely one right by the water where both the gelato and the service was amazing. The place was called Ristorante Covo Dei Saraceni be sure to check it out if you visit and make sure to try their fresh lemon sorbet which is served inside a carved out lemon! After a morning spent in the hot sun exploring the sights we were famished and decided to take a break for some lunch. The options were endless however we settled on a spot called Ristorante La Pergola Positano where we had some delicious seafood pasta.

THINGS TO DO:
Positano is a very enjoy the sights and relax type of place however if you need a list of things to do and see, check out below:
- Walk the Path of The Gods
- Take the Amalfi Drive road trip
- Swim and relax at the Positano Spiaggia Grande
- Walk down the coast to Fornillo Beach
- Take a boat to La Fontelina
- Shop at all the stunning little boutiques busting with handmade goodness
- Visit the Church of Saint Mary of The Assumption
- Eat at the spectacular restaurants

If you are planning to visit Sorrento I would highly recommend carving out some time to take a day trip to Positano. I have added a few photos on here which honestly don’t do it justice but head over to our instagram where there is a lot more Positano content! We had the most dreamy day that honestly felt surreal. Let us know if you go, what your highlight was.
