Gilgamesh

We visited Gilgamesh after a full day of eating, so I feel like we didn’t get to experience the restaurant to its fullest but I still wanted to share the details.

They describe themselves as an intimate, boutique space that transcends dining, immersing you in an unforgettable journey where Gilgamesh’s epic tale intertwines seamlessly with Japanese, Chinese, and Southeast Asian flavours. The restaurant is a Babylonian-inspired palace with three enchanting levels, adorned with opulent gold accents, intricately crafted bronze details, and rich dark woods that artfully depict the tales of the epic of Gilgamesh.

We arrived at the beginning of the dinner service so there wasn’t anyone else there besides us. We were greeted warmly and orders were taken promptly. Everything came out pretty quick and seemed freshly prepared. We enjoyed all the dishes we tried but I wasn’t blown away, I think my expectations were higher because of what I had seen on social media. Anyway, I have listed what we ate below:

  • Popcorn Shrimp in Miso Chipotle Mayo
  • Chicken Yakitori
  • Gilgamesh Dragon Roll
  • Singapore Noodles
  • Prawn & Chive Dumpling

My favourite from the above was the prawn dumplings, they were packed full of the delicious prawn filling and the glossy, chewy exterior made for the perfect dumpling. Again we didn’t get to try as much as I wanted which could be why I wasn’t completely blown away therefore I will definitely be heading back soon to try more of the menu and I will be sure to update this post when I do! Let us know if you visit and what your thoughts were.
