Jamavar

on

During a luxurious staycation in London, my bestie and I decided we needed to take it up a level with a luxurious dinner and what says luxury more than a fine dining Indian restaurant in the heart of Mayfair! It is described as; Indian street food gets an upscale makeover in a glossy venue with botanical-themed cocktails.

I find with fine dining it can go two ways, either it’s fantastic or the pretentiousness overpowers the actual food creating bland dishes that are probably just pleasant to look at. This was certainly not the case with Jamavar, the food might have a sprinkle of pretentious but it was packed full of flavour! Every dish we ordered tasted great, the portions were good and each dish had enough to share between two people. We ordered a small variety to sample a few dishes but since there was just two of us we didn’t get to try as much as we wanted. I have listed the dishes below:

  • Lychee Cooler – mocktail
  • Chandni Chowk Ki Aloo Tikki
  • Crispy Chicken 65
  • Kairee Jhinga
  • Old Delhi Butter Chicken
  • Jamavar Dal
  • Garlic Naan

I believe the menu does change seasonally so some dishes may not appear however after a recent check most of the above is still available. My favourite dish was the butter chicken, fun fact if there is butter chicken on the menu I will always order it! The sauce was super smooth and absolutely delicious, you could tell it was a slow cooked dish with the freshest ingredients that all came together to create culinary perfection. Overall I think Jamavar is a fantastic choice if you are looking for something special since it is sure to impress everything time.
