Hatchards Bookshop

on

Nothing beats the feel of a physical book and spending hours browsing through a bookshop. I’ve been loyal to my Kindle for several years now but last year I made the decision to restart my paperback and hardcover collection. I’m still reading across both formats however the goal is to curate my own personal library therefore to make this endeavour a reality I have been frequenting a lot of bookshops.

I visited Hatchards a while ago and was blown away by how amazing it is. Hatchards Piccadilly is Londons oldest bookshop and booksellers to the Royal Households. It was founded by John Hatchard in 1797, and holds three Royal Warrants. It is a beautiful five-storey bookshop on Piccadilly, located next to Fortnum and Mason and opposite the Royal Academy. Many authors come in to sign their new books at Hatchards, ensuring an excellent choice of new signed first editions. They also have a display of older first and special editions.

Within the History section they feature a strong selection of books on Royalty and Churchill. Their Children’s department on the Second Floor is a haven for young minds to explore. They have an inspiring calendar of events, including a wonderful Christmas Customer Evening, when some of the year’s best authors come to meet customers and sign books.  Hatchards also offers a subscription service, and a wedding list service.

They also partner with Waterstones meaning if you purchase from them you can still earn point on your Waterstones Plus reward card! Be prepared to spend a long time here since there is so much to explore across the 5 floors! Anyway, let us know in the comments if you visit and what you thought also leave us bookshop recommendations so we can add it to our list!
