A second post in the span of a week who am I?! I have that 2024 new year, new me energy so I may as well take advantage and plug out as many posts as possible. Particularly the ones that were lingering in my drafts from last year! This post is a Spa recommendation and a great one at that, so if you’re a bit of a pamper princess like me, strap in and keep on reading!
I’m quite discerning when it comes to spas, since I’m a regular spa goer and have certain requirements that need to be met. Cottonmill Club not only met those expectation but exceeded them!
This spa is located at Sopwell House Hotel in St Albans and pretty easy to get to, just off the M1. They have a number of packages available where you can add in a variety of treatments as well as overnight stays at the hotel. We went for a day break and our package was called ‘Evening Retreat’. It included welcome drinks, use of The Club at Cottonmill facilities (4pm – close) a cold platter supper in the sitting room and a glass of fizz. We enjoyed the exclusive Club at Cottonmill facilities, including indoor/outdoor hydropool, whisper room, deep relaxation room, experience showers and beautiful spa gardens plus much more. For comfort we were also provided a robe and flip-flops on arrival.
This package is lower on the price scale compared to the others, most likely because its in the evening and doesn’t include a treatment. This may be a downside for some however for us, it was ideal! Not only was it less crowded so the facilities are more relaxing to use but you get to stay there until closing. It worked out great as we had a late start to the day, then grabbed some lunch and headed over around 3pm. This time is also better for my modest girlies who would prefer to use the facilities with a little more privacy since it is not heavily packed with guests.
I find that a lot of places tag ‘Spa’ on when all they have is a pool and a steam room which is quite frustrating but Cottonmill has an outstanding number of facilities and spaces. I think in comparison to other spas I have visited, Cottonmill surpasses them all. It is slightly more expensive however you get so much more for your money! When we arrived we were greeted warmly and guided to the sitting room to enjoy welcome drinks while one of the spa staff came over to run through the details of our package and answer any questions. We also got to pick a time to be served our supper in the sitting room which was absolutely delicious. You can select a range of options however we opted for the vegetarian meal.
I would honestly say this is the best spa I have visited based off of the facilities, the service and atmosphere. You are truly transported to a world of relaxation and I cannot recommend it enough! Leave a comment if you visit and any epic spa recommendations you have for us to visit next!
