I feel like majority of my posts recently have been food related but what else is there to do this time of year other than eat, am I right?! Anyway, on that note I have another restaurant recommendation for you!
6 of us visited Qavali in early October with zero expectations. We didn’t know much about this spot due to its newness however we were pleasantly surprised by the food, service and atmosphere. This restaurant is a fine dining concept featuring dishes from across the Persian Empire. Qavali offers a range of delicious dishes inspired by Turkish, Arabic, Persian and Indian cuisine.
The menu is quite diverse so it took us a while to agree on what to order. After much deliberation we ended up ordering too much as usual! Looking back I’m glad we did since it gave us a chance to try a variety of flavours and textures. I have listed our choices below:
- Papadums Basket
- Trio of Signiture Chutneys
- Chopan Chilli Lamb Kebab
- Hyderabadi Biryani Chicken
- Hyderabadi Biryani Lamb
- Amritsari Tarka Daal
- Mazadar Gilden Fries
- Shahi Butter Chicken
- Garlic Naan
- Akbar & Alphonso Mocktail
- The Ottoman Mocktail
- Scarlett Mocktail
My favourite dish was the ‘Chopan Chilli Lamb Kebab’, this was surprising since I’m not a huge fan of red meat however the lamb was tender and bursting with flavour, I actually found myself disappointed that we ordered this to share! I will point out that everything arrived quite promptly, however, for a fine dining restaurant the presentation could have been a little better.
Overall we enjoyed our experience and since the portions were quite generous we took a bunch of food home with us. In terms of price I would say it’s on the expensive side however it seemed fairly comparative against other ‘fine dining’ establishments. Qavali is definitely worth checking out, let us know if you do and what you thought.
