Sorrento

This trip was the epitome of plans making it out of the group chat! My sisters and I haven’t done a girls trip abroad, so when the opportunity came up we grabbed it! Sorrento has been on my travel bucket list for a while so when we were choosing a location it was a no brainer.

GETTING HERE:

We flew into Naples airport and had a car service arranged to take us from the airport to the hotel. If you have a little extra in the holiday budget I would highly recommend doing this since it made our journey so much easier and comfortable. We booked ours through booking.com and the service both on the way there and on the way home was great. You can also take a taxi, bus or train to Sorrento pretty easily and it is very inexpensive.

WHERE TO STAY:

Our hotel was located quite central and walking distance to all the hot spots. We stayed at Hotel Villa Maria where we had a large sea view room which was extremely spacious specially for 4 girls sharing! When you book a hotel I would recommend staying in the vicinity of Piazza Tasso since that area is bustling with shops, restaurants and close to the port. Sorrento isn’t huge so most places you would want to visit are easily accessible but there are buses and taxis to get you around, be sure to ask your hotel for a map, it helped us so much more than the maps on our phones!

PLACES TO EAT:

There is an abundance of restaurants on every street in Sorrento where you can sample authentic Italian cuisine. We ate at so many small family owned spots as well as the fancier restaurants. The one place that I would recommend going to just for the vibes would be O’Parrucchiano La Favorita – this restaurant has a lemon tree garden which is stunning and the atmosphere alone makes it not to be missed. We only had the desserts which were amazing and weren’t overpriced. If you do decide to visit be sure to make a reservation as they’re almost always fully booked and won’t accept walk ins. When in Italy you have to have gelato everyday as a cardinal rule and I have a fantastic recommendation – Bougainvillea, this location has unlimited flavours and was hands down the best gelato we had on the trip. They also serve pizza and other dishes which we tried and loved but the gelato is the star.
