For our final dinner in New York we wanted to go out with a bang which is why we chose Buddakan. Sex and The City fans will recognise this iconic restaurant as it’s where Carrie and Big had their engagement celebration in the first movie. I’m gonna be honest, even before looking at reviews or the menu I knew I wanted to come here because of that very reason. Lucky for us it exceeded our expectations in atmosphere, food and service!

The restaurant itself is broken up into a few different dining areas that lead to the famous chandelier lit hall. We sat in a beautiful gallery style room just off of the main area which was perfect, as it was away from the buzz and a lot more intimate. The whole place is exhilarating to the eyes and tastebuds alike, presenting flavours of the far east. The atmosphere combines the serenity of Asia and the extravagance of 16th century Paris making it a delight for the senses.

We were told by the server that all dishes were made to share which was perfect for us. The food and drinks came out as and when it was ready which was nice since we got to enjoy a couple of dishes at a time. The portions were very generous which was surprising since I find the fancier a place the more pretentious the food. This was definitely not the case here. Everything was freshly made, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Check out what we had below:

• Sweet & Crispy Jumbo Shrimp
• Wok Tossed Noodles
• Vegetable Fried Rice w/ Coconut Curry & Pineapple

We stuck to the seafood options since most places in NYC aren’t halal however that was not an issue for us since we actually prefer seafood. My favourite dish from above had to be the rice, it was such a unique blend of flavours that worked so well together! This is another spot I will be re-visiting when I’m back in the city.
