Iftaar Party

Ramadan came and went in a blink of an eye and I miss it already. This year we threw the cutest little iftaar party for my family and I just had to share the details with you! By the way iftaar is the act of breaking fast with food at sunset during the month of Ramadan (in case you were wondering).

I’m usually super low key during Ramadan and the idea of hosting whilst fasting is exhausting, however I made an exception this year and put this all together relatively last minute with the ever helping hands of my sisters.

We arranged a cute set up for just the girls in the family because let’s face it, we’re the only ones who would actually appreciate the details. We already had majority of the items required however we bought the charger plates, favour boxes and cutlery for the occasion from Amazon. My sister found the prettiest chargers in a sage green that matched my moms china perfectly. We wanted gold cutlery however finding a nice 6 piece metal set was difficult but also expensive. The plastic set we ordered turned out great and was shockingly good quality for plastic utensils. We filled the gold favour boxes with hand made chocolate dates as it is tradition to break fast with dates (recipe already on the blog).

My favourite part of the table was the centrepiece which I made using fresh flowers and a floral foam ring. It was my first time making one and I think I did a pretty good job, everyone gushed over how pretty it was and couldn’t believe it was handmade. Surprisingly the process wasn’t too difficult, the key is to fill in the gaps with leafage and smaller flowers. I drew inspiration from Pinterest for this specific piece, following a visual guide also helped make it easier. I’m excited to try it again with different flowers and foliage.

In terms of food we made so many dishes I actually lost count! We decided to serve it all buffet style that way everyone could help themselves and the food was in one place. It worked out great considering the number of people we had. All in all it was a success, we had a blast with the family and despite the aftermath of tidying up I would probably do it again haha.
