The weather is slowly starting to pick up, that is if you don’t take into account the recent storms but regardless I’m finally feeling the spring vibes. As the days get longer and the sun graces the skies I know you’re all looking for places to visit and I have got an amazing recommendation for you, so keep reading to find out more.
The Wallace Collection is a museum in London occupying Hertford House on Manchester Square. The house itself is the former home of the Seymour family. It is named after Sir Richard Wallace who built the extensive collection, along with the Marquesses of Hertford, in the 18th and 19th centuries. The collection features fine and decorative arts from the 15th to the 19th centuries with important holdings of French 18th-century paintings, furniture, arms and armour, porcelain and Old Master paintings arranged into 25 galleries. It is open to the public and entry is free.
There are several rooms within the museum that are unique and spectacular in their own way, you’ll be able to spend hours roaming at your leisure. I have visited a couple of times now and I’m still blown away by the extravagance! It is also a place where the visitors are mostly adults which is nice when you want a more quiet atmosphere unlike that of V&A where children are ever present. Seating is dotted all over so you will have the opportunity to sit, admire and contemplate the surrounding splendour.
It is rather easy to get to being a short walk from Bond Street Station. If you decide to make a day of it you can enjoy the endless food opportunities in the surrounding area! I would highly recommend making a trip there whether you’re an art enthusiast or novice like me, it is a must see!
