The Warner Bros Studio Tour is an absolute favourite of mine and they currently have a Christmas special called ‘Hogwarts in The Snow’ where the studio has been transformed into a festive wonderland. This place is pure magic all year round however there’s just a little extra sparkle during Christmas that will take you all the way back to the first movie.
When you arrive at your allocated time slot you will be gathered as part of a group and then taken through introductions. Once you have been thoroughly informed the guide will usher you into the enchanting Great Hall which has been dressed for the occasion with wreaths, garlands and trees topped with witches on miniature broomsticks. The long dining tables are set as they were for the seasonal feast in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, complete with Special Effects flaming Christmas puddings and prop versions of the mouth-watering roast turkeys and hams studded with cherries.
New for 2021, the trees and woodland in the Forbidden Forest have been given a festive makeover, draped in layers of filmmaking snow, as well as the cobbled stones and magical shop fronts of Diagon Alley, Hagrid’s Hut and the Hogwarts castle model. If you missed getting tickets for this year don’t worry as it will be back for 2022 and you can even start pre-booking tickets here!
Just as normal you will have access to visit all the iconic sets, see your favourite props, check out all the intricately detailed costumes, discover the secrets of special and visual effects, learn how magical creatures were brought to life and finally the extraordinary work of the art department. The tour is well paced and when you reach the half way point you will arrive at the canteen where you can get food and refreshments including butter beer! You then carry on with the tour until the end where you will reach the huge gift shop, where I always find it hard to not pick up a few things I really don’t need.
My favourite parts of the tour would be Gringotts Bank where the Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon makes an appearance from the pits of the vaults! I also love platform 9 3/4s where the Hogwarts Express is waiting to collect students! In all honestly the whole experience is great and a fantastic day out for anyone who loves the wizarding world of Harry Potter. I would highly recommend planning a trip, I’ve already been a few times but will be going back again for sure! Tickets range in price depending on its type and what it includes but it usually starts from £47.
Let me know if you get a chance to visit and what your favourite part was!
