When I was deciding on where to go for my birthday dinner the first place that came to mind was Buddha Bar. I had been there 2 years ago with my family and it was an amazing experience so I wanted to go back and see if it was as good as I remembered. Well, let me confirm it was actually better and far exceeded my expectations!
Buddha Bar is located in Mayfair and serves Asian cuisine, the theme of the restaurant is up-scale bar with an oriental ambience. It is the perfect place for that special occasion or celebration. When we made the reservation we added a note to say it was for a birthday and they really made sure to take care of us. One thing I will mention is the music, which can be quite loud. It was fine for us and added to the experience but if you are looking for something a little more intimate and quiet it’s best to keep that in mind.
The food was amazing, I am quite partial to Asian cuisine however I think very few restaurants are able to properly balance different flavours and textures from various parts of Asia. I will say this place does it well and then some! We obviously ordered more than we could finish but one of the things I love about dining out in a group is being able to order a variety of dishes and sharing.
Check out the list of dishes and drinks we tried if you need some recommendations on what to get:
- Passionfruit Mojito (Mocktail)
- Lychee Mojito (Mocktail)
- Karma Mocktail
- Vasco Mocktail
- Rock Shrimp
- Chilli Salt Crispy Baby Squid
- Spider- Soft Shell Crab Roll
- Prawn Tempura & Asparagus Roll
- California Roll
- Prawn Pad Thai
- Five Spiced BBQ Chicken w/ Rice
- Chicken Green Curry w/ Rice
- Vegetable Spring Roll
- Crispy Crab Salad
- Tiger Prawn Tempura
- Spicy Mango Maki
- Whole Boneless Chicken Green Curry
- Creme Brûlée Trio
It was all amazing but my favourite dish would be a toss between the BBQ Chicken and the Green Curry so I would definetly recommend trying those.
The service was top tier, once we were seated our orders were taken promptly, the drinks came out within 5 minutes of ordering and the food followed shortly after. At the end of our meal I was brought over a birthday dessert plate whilst the staff sang, it was totally embarrassing and a little cute.
I honestly can’t say enough good things about this place and would highly suggest it to all who are looking for an up-scale spot. Let me know if you’ve dined here what dishes you enjoyed!
Edit 20/08/22 – Recently visited for my birthday and the menu has changed some of the items above are no longer available and there are some new items which I have added to the list and pictures below. As always was a pleasure dining there!
