My sister made us a reservation for Madhu’s to go the day after Eid and I am so glad she did! We had a super lowkey Eid and didn’t do much so it was nice to get out and celebrate. I had seen mixed reviews for Madhu’s where some people loved it and others thought it was overrated. Anyway, it was our first time dining here and I can honestly say we were pleasantly surprised.

Our reservation was for 5.30pm which is also when the restaurant opens, I would recommend going at this time since it’s not too busy. When we arrived we were told they were undergoing an inspection which meant we had to wait 15-20 minutes before we could order food, that was totally fine with us. However, they were so apologetic for the delay that they bought us over delicious mocktails free of charge! Little things like this really elevate the service of a restaurant since it shows they really care about the experience of the diner.

The restaurant itself is located at The Dilly in Mayfair and it is absolutely stunning. The decor is over the top glam with chandeliers, giant gilded mirrors and velvet upholstered seating. The moody lighting coupled with soft music playing in the background makes the atmosphere perfect for intimate dining as well as any special occasion.

The food arrived within 20 minutes of ordering, which wasn’t bad as we requested to have all the dishes bought out together. The portions are pretty decent for ‘fine dining’ and the quality wasn’t bad either. Was it the best Indian cuisine I’ve had? No, but it was quite good. I’ve listed the dishes we tried and enjoyed below:

• Masala Fish
• Murgh Makhani
• Garlic Naan
• Cucumber Raita

Overall we loved coming here and it gave us the perfect opportunity to dress up! Let me know of any restaurant recommendations that you think I should try next!
