Birthday ParTEA!

I feel like I’m kinda perfecting the art of a lockdown birthday party! Anyway, my baby sis turned 15 so we had to celebrate in style. We were still in lockdown at the time, which meant we had to get creative. She’s a huge fan of afternoon tea and loves the chance to be a little fancy so, I hosted one for her. It was relatively simple to plan and the trick was in the little details, which made it look and feel extra special. I loved how it turned out and would totally encourage everyone to try it and if you need some ideas on where to start check out the details below!

Printing the menus and adding them to each place setting created a cute detail that everyone enjoyed. I used an online template that had a variety of designs to pick from. You could also use MS Word to create one, I printed ours in A6 as I have found that’s the perfect size for a table at home. Along side the menu I added a fresh pink rose that was another pretty detail.

I wanted each place setting to look super special and in order to do that, I whipped out my moms fancy china set. I used different sized plates for a layering effect and then placed the teacup and saucer on top. The plates were interlaced with shimmery linen napkins which was all held upon a glittery gold charger. The overall look was inspired, I would recommend creating layers and using matching serveware to make the table look more interesting and give the feel of a real afternoon tea.

We made it a champagne(non alcoholic) afternoon tea since we were celebrating after all. The menu was made up of things we like as well as what you would find at a regular dining experience. We had a selection of sandwiches; egg & cress, coronation chicken and tuna sweetcorn. In addition to that there was also home baked scones served with strawberry jam and cream. Finally, we had an array of sweet treats; macaroons, cherry bakewell’s, mini pastry’s, mini swiss rolls and an assortment of fruits. This was all served along side freshly brewed English breakfast tea.

Everything was set on a circle table covered with a lace table cloth layered over a pink one. I also did a mini backdrop on the wall that consisted of balloons, fans and an easel that held a personalised poster with the birthday party details. It all came together perfectly and allowed us to live out our Bridgerton dreams!
