Portmeirion in Wales

It seems that summer has come and gone in a flash, so my best friend and I decided to go on a road trip to make the most of the last remnants of sunshine. If you live in the UK, you’ll know how rare it is to have consistent good weather!

We’re still cautious about flying abroad and don’t feel it’s 100% safe, so this was the next best thing! We found an amazing little spot in Wales and were truly blown away by how beautiful it was. Both of us received so many messages asking where it was, so I thought I would put a post-up for anyone looking for some inspiration for a quick getaway!

Portmeirion is the specific place we visited, and it’s located in the northern part of wales. We drove from Birmingham and it took us about 2hours & 50minutes. If you do decide to go, brace yourself for a long journey but its a pleasant one filled with so many beautiful sights.

Portmeirion village was created by a welsh architect to show how the area could be developed without spoiling the natural beauty. The grounds extend over 70 acres of lush land and sandy beaches. The resort is filled with stunning architecture, sub-tropical gardens, shops, restaurants, cafes, a spa and two stylish hotels. To enter the grounds, you must purchase a ticket, the price is £13 for an adult and £9 for a child, they also have family tickets available. It is open daily from 9:30 am to 5:30 am however I would recommend getting there before 11:00 am to avoid the queues. Parking is free and available on site.

Although our trip was just for the day, we enjoyed ourselves immensely and would definitely go back. After exploring the grounds and having some drinks we made our way to Harlech beach and on the way there we passed Harlech Castle which was a sight to behold. The beach itself was literally a 10-minute drive from Portmeirion and has parking available. It’s a sandy beach with blue water surrounded by the vast Snowdonia mountain range. If you’re looking to go away without the hassle of flying, then look no further this is the most perfect place for a stay-cation.
