Christmas in London

Every year I love to spend a day in London exploring all the seasonal delights. The over the top decorations are world-renowned and make for the perfect festive backdrop. So, if you’re ready for some Christmas cheer and want to spend a day getting lost in London then check out some of my favourite spots below!

St Pancras is a great place to start this holiday tour as they always have a spectacularly decorated tree for all the travellers passing through. The station itself is a popular site to check out but the tree draws in many a crowd. Take a look at a few I managed to snap over the years!

Old Bond Street is another place that completely transforms during Christmas. The designer stores try to outdo one another with their lavish decorations and it’s totally worth a visit. My favourite is the Cartier store which is decorated to look like a giant wrapped gift! Also located there are; Royal Arcade and Burlington Avenue, which are both historic, luxury shopping arcades. Take a stroll in the upscale district of Mayfair during Christmas where everything is just that extra bit special.

Anyone who has ever visited London will have been to Covent Garden at least once. The area is so quaint, abundant with shopping, entertainment and food. However, during this time of year, they go all out, with their bauble and mistletoe chandeliers to the giant Christmas tree!

I always make time to pop to Oxford Circus and Regents Street as soon as it gets dark to see the lights in all their glory. They’re likely the most famous lights in London during this season and the lined stores on either side have some great displays too.

The natural history museum is one of my festive favourites. They set up a large ice skating rink with a decorated tree in the middle, couple that with the beautiful structure of the museum in the background and it is a vision to behold.

Finally, Winter Wonderland, the most popular attraction by far. Let me start by saying it’s not one of my favourites however that’s just because I don’t like the large crowds. Each year it has grown more and more popular with the help of social media and now it’s always swarming with people making it difficult to enjoy it. But it is still worth going, just to see the dazzling lights and to sample treats from one of the many food stalls.

I hope you get to visit some of these places and let me know in the comments what your favourite Christmas spot in London is. Enjoy!

You make me ashamed to be a Londoner – I am born/bred and have not seen half of these lovely sites all festive during Xmas time! You’ve captured their magic very well and enticed all to check them out – go you! Also what a hidden gem in St Pancreas station – who would have thought it?! Will check that one out soon :). I always note the Covent Garden tree (as work not that far away). Please take me with you in 2021!
