Climbing The O2

This activity had been floating around on Instagram for a while and I finally decided to take a crack at it. It looked super fun and I thought it would be to do with the girls.

We were lucky that the weather was so nice on the day, the sunshine made the experience so much better. Climbs take place in all weather conditions unless they’re extreme for example, snow or storms. However, I wouldn’t recommend doing this in the rain, as it can get slippery.

When you get to the o2 you are briefed about the climb and then given all the necessary equipment. We had to change our shoes into chunky trainers and were given a waistcoat to wear. We had to then put on a harness that attaches to a rail for safety.

It was time for our group to climb and the instructor gathered us together to begin our ascent. The instructor was super helpful and supportive, making the experience fun and upbeat, which was good since the climb can be a little daunting.

The top of the o2 is made out of a soft and bouncy material, so the climb can be quite difficult especially when it starts to get steeper near the top. Also, the harness can sometimes get stuck going up the railing but I found when you took your time and went at a steady pace it was less likely to do so.

It’s all worth it when you get to the top, the view is amazing and you feel such a sense of accomplishment. This is the perfect activity to do with your friends or family and how often can you say you’ve climbed such an iconic structure?
