My sister’s birthday and mine are close together so we decided to treat ourselves to a mini stay-cay. We had wanted to go to the Shard for a while and thought why not make a trip out of it.

The Shangri-La starts on the 34^th floor of the Shard building and the views of London from the hotel are unparalleled. The hotel is so luxurious and the perfect place for a special getaway. We originally booked a standard room but when we got there and mentioned it was our birthday, we got upgraded to a room with a city view. If you were thinking of staying here I would highly recommend the city view room, as the skyline is unreal both at night and during the day. The rooms are spacious and decorated beautifully, filled with little touches to enhance the experience e.g. binoculars to view every detail of the city. The amenities are of the highest quality and make the stay that extra bit special.

When staying at the hotel you can make use of the gym and the swimming pool. The pool is based on the 52^nd floor and is ultra-unique, being the highest in Europe. We went on a weekday and it was really quiet at the hotel so we were able to have the pool to ourselves the whole time!

We dined at Ting restaurant the following day for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. There is also a lounge where you can enjoy a variety of afternoon tea whilst admiring the amazing view. This was such a nice treat for us and I would definitely choose the Shangri-La for another special occasion.
