Cannes is known for its annual Film Festival, luxury hotels, restaurants and the rich and famous. You can find cheap tickets as well as reasonably priced hotels outside of peak periods which also makes it a great getaway location. The journey was short and sweet with a comfortable, scenic train ride to Cannes after arriving at Nice airport.
I only spent 2 nights there, but it was super enjoyable with me being able to experience a fair amount of the city. Ok, by that I mean I was able to go to the beach and wonder dreamily along La Croisette, which is one of the most iconic streets in France and just enjoy the palm trees. Like I said it was a quick getaway mainly to relax but I would like to visit again and explore in detail.
Anyway, here is a list of things to see and do while you’re there:
- La Croisette – iconic street along the seafront
- Marche Forville – daily market
- Yacht Port – admire all the luxurious yachts docked and for sale
- La Croix des Gardens – a small village in Cannes
- La Marie – the town hall
- Le Vieux Port – the old port of Cannes
- Musee de la Castra – medieval castle
- InterContinental Carlton Hotel – one of the most famous hotels
- Rue d’Antibes – a great place to shop
- Palm Beach & Plage du Midi– lovely beaches away from the madness of La Croisette
The hotel we stayed at was a 5-minute walk from La Croisette and it was a luxury spa hotel, now looking back that was probably why we didn’t get to go out and see much!
